    Missing Pictures (Office 2003)

    Hi
In any of the office programs I have (ie Word, Excel, Powerpoint or Publisher) of late when I insert a picture from a file the picture won't show up. There is a square/rectangle where it should be and even when I double click on it nothing happens.

I have checked areas like Tools>Options and made sure all the appropriate items are selected but still have the problem.

I have also run the repair program and its still the same

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Cheers
    Dax

Do you have "Picture Placehoher" checked, ifso, uncheck it?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Since the problem occurs in more than one application, it could be a problem with your video card.

Fist, make sure you have the latest drivers for it.

    Next, try the following:

    - Open the Display Properties control panel (either by right-clicking an empty part of the desktop and selecting Properties from the popup menu, or through Start | Control Panel)
    - Activate the Settings tab,
    - Click Advanced.
    - Activate the Troubleshoot tab.
    - Drag the Hardware Acceleration slider a notch or two to the left.
    - OK your way out.

Now try inserting a picture in Word or Excel. If it hasn't helped, you can try further reducing hardware acceleration. If it doesn't help at all, you can restore the original setting.

    Thanks for the reply Hans

You are correct when I moved the slider a notch and then a second time to the left it worked in Word and Excel but not in Publisher or PowerPoint.
Any suggestions how to get Publisher and PowerPoint to work?

    Cheers

I assume that you have made sure that View > Pictures > Detailed Display is ticked in Publisher.

That decreasing hardware acceleration helped in Excel and Word shows that the problem is with the video card/driver. If decreasing it even further doesn't help in PowerPoint and Publisher, it is a serious problem.

If you are absolutely sure that you have up-to-date drivers for your video card, I'd contact the manufacturer of the video card.

    Hi Hans

You are a champion and I'm a complete dill....... I must have missed your note about the video card driver the first time I read your response, when I went to reply I noticed your reference to updating the driver, so went and did that and of course that was the problem.

Sorry to have @#$!% you and Dave around, next time I'll read replies twice before I do anything else.

Thanks again and keep up the great work in the lounge as I'm sure there are heaps of dills like me out there that would be right up the creek without a paddle if it wasn't for guys like you, Dave and others.

    Cheers
    Dax
