IE 7 is very slow (XP 2 - IE 7)

    Hi all,

One of my colleagues is having problems with internet explorer 7, she is using a web application to input data but it is taking her ages to load pages, is there a fix to this problem? I have turned off phishing filter as well as disabled tabbed browsing but it does not make a difference, I have also removed IE 7 but it made it even slower. Any other suggesstions.

    Many thanks,

Does this occur only in that specific web application, or whenever she uses Internet Explorer?

It is whenever she uses the internet e.g opening a new page it takes ages. Other colleagues use the the same application thrugh IE 7 and it is fine, she had to do some data entry and it took her 3.5 hours where as her collague 20 minutes, I do think it has to do something with internet explorer.

    Thanks,

Have you checked her PC for spyware, adware, viruses etc.?

Can you see in the Processes tab of Task Manager whether IE is using a lot of CPU time while loading a web page, or another process?

Well, when using Ineternet explorer it goes up to 51% and then down to 33% it ranges from 3% to 51%.

Well 3% is when you open IE, then openining e new page goes to 33% and then 51%, so with IE opened the CPU usage is between 3% to 51%

Does the CPU usage by IE remain at a high level after the user starts loading a page, or does it return to 3% or so quickly?

That would indicate that the problem isn't with IE. If it takes long to load a page, what is the processor doing when IE is back to 3% but the page hasn't loaded yet?

IT justs stays at 3% precent if you don't use IE, I meant if IE is opened and home page opened. The precentage does not move.cheers

Is that the CPU usage by IE or the overall CPU usage?
