Avatar Woes

I need some help here folks. I am trying to change my avatar from what's there to this:

<IMG SRC=http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z181/Digerati_Bill/MyAvatar64X64.gif>

I can delete the one that is there, but I cannot add in my new one. It seems when I think I got it, the old one comes back!

The above is 64X64 but I also created a 65X75 version and the same thing happens.

Please advise.

There are still some technical problems left over from moving to a new server after the old one crashed in August. Changing userpics is one of them.

You can send an e-mail with a request and the new userpic as attachment to LoungeAdmin (see the link at the bottom of any Lounge page). Claude will replace your userpic when he returns from his vacation (he should be back on Friday).

Also... make sure to bypass the cache when viewing your profile after any changes. Depending on your browser this may involve holding Shift or Ctrl when clicking the toolbar button.

Bill,
You can also try to delete the old Lounge cookie and let it reset a new one. Worth a shot.

Thanks, but I have already tried all those suggestions. Hans, is correct. Refreshing the browser and even logging out and clearing the cookies does not work. My new avatar has a different file name from the old, but the Lounge insists on renaming it to http://www.wopr.com/w3tuserpics/bill_bright.gif - which of course, is the name of my old avatar - that explains why it keeps coming back.

Re: Avatar Woes

Under normal circumstances, forcing the browser to refresh and deleting the Lounge cookie are excellent suggestions in case of problems with the way the Lounge looks and acts. But we do have a real problem with updating userpics at the moment - the server will not allow an already existing file to be replaced by another one of the same name. There is nothing Loungers can do about that. We do hope that Claude and Mike will be able to solve this problem in the not too distant future.

Re: Avatar Woes

I have several images on the lounge.
Variations on extents of gif/jpg/jpeg seem to assign distinct images.
I think I discovered that different cases (upper/lower) had an impact on file names too.
