Deleting message that has already started to send (2003)

I stupidly sent an email with an attachment that is 120MB, and hours later Outlook is still trying to send the thing. It won't let me delete the message because it has already started to send. Can anyone help me nuke this message and get my life back?
    Thanks
While I'm at it, I hate the export function for backing up .pst files, and would like to ditch Outlook altogether for something less glitchy and more user friendly. Ideally something that can import my old emails from Outlook though. Any suggestions?

    Try this first:
    - Select File | Work Offline...
    - Quit and restart Outlook.
    - See if you can now delete the mail in the Outbox.

If that doesn't help, see Delete a Message Stuck in the Outbox.

You don't need to export anything to backup your e-mails. You can copy your .pst file(s) directly to a CD, DVD or external hard drive when Outlook isn't running.

Not sure if you can stop it once it's passing through the server, but try Tools | Send/Receive | Send/Receive Disable, then see if you can delete it from the Outbox.

Why are you exporting for a back-up? Try MS's PST back-up tool mentioned <!post=here,669,878>here<!/post> recently. Or go to Mozilla Thunderbird, it can to import your Outlook messagebase - see AlanMiller's <post#=624,017>post 624,017</post#>. At it's core TBird is an email client, but it has Calendar and some other plug-ins.

Just curious, which technique worked? I didn't think of Hans approach. His probably works best in an Exchange server environment, mine probably fits a POP service better.
