Formula across several sheets (Excel 97 SR2)

I need to come up with a formula that pulls numbers from several different workbooks within the same spreadsheet. The numbers are statistics for several little league players, and each workbook has them listed in a slightly different order, so I need to pull a cell from each workbook but in each case it will be a different cell. Like Sheet 1 cell a3, Sheet 2 cell b5, Sheet 3 cell b2. Is there a way to do this?

To reference a cell from a different workbook use something like this:
    ='C:My Documents[Filename.xls]Sheet1'!$A$3

The filename must be inside the [...] and the quote marks after the = sign and before the exclamation mark are required.

Another way would be to assign a range name to the cell in each workbook ie you don't have to worry about inserting rows or columns.

    Modifying Tony55's code:
To reference a cell from a different workbook use something like this:
    ='C:My Documents[Filename.xls]Sheet1'!YourRangeName
