I have a agp graphic card with 512 meg ram and my system has 1 gig of ram and while it runs quiet well for 2004 system. I am curious as to why vista lends the graphics card 159 meg to make it a 671 meg available does this have an effect on my system resources all the time or only when I used all the ram in the graphic card. Is there a way of stopping Vista lending these resources.

If you are thinking about a new system or just don't want to spend the money on RAM, buy a 1 or 2 GB USB thymb drive and use it for readyboost. On a 1 GB RAM it should help performance for a lot less money than the RAM costs.

Since Windows XP came out there is no "system resources " as we knew it in Windows 98.
With Vista it will use any of the memory it can find and make it available to what program and/or file that needs it.
With only 1 gig of ram your system will run slow, I would recommend that you upgrade it to 2 gigs of ram.
Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
