    Prevent Date from changing

If I insert the date using F1, the date changes to the current date every time I open the document. How can I auto insert the date but prevent it from updating/changing once it's inserted?

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

You can unlink the field by placing the insertion point in the date and pressing Command+Shift+F9

I've not used it, but If you are opening the document from a template, you could consider using the CreateDate field to set the date when the document is created. The Insert | Field dialog gives a number of field options for date-time formatting.
