creating a formula using even or odd numbers only (excel 97)

I created a rent roll in excel 97, I need to to create a formula at the bottom of a column adding only the even numbers. I am not sure how to do this. Please help. I.E, ( from m6, m8 m10 to m208).

If I read your question correctly, you want to add the numbers in the even numbered rows, not the cells that contain even numbers. If that is correct, then the following array formula will do that:

=SUM(-(MOD(ROW(M6:M208),2)-1)*M6:M208)

That is an array formula, so you must hold down the Ctrl + Shift keys when you press enter to enter it into the cell.
