    Macro security (Access 2007)

We have changed from Access 2000 to Access 2007, and now when we open the program, a security warning is displayed ("Certain content in the database has been disabled"), and some forms with lookup fields don't work, unless we either click on an option to override the block temporarily or override the security permanently by enabling all macros. Is there a way of enabling everything to keep working without overriding the security?

    Re: Macro security (Access 2007)

It might be caused by "sandbox mode", a rather silly security measure introduced in Access 2003. See see Functions and properties in Access 2007 blocked by sandbox mode, it mentions how to turn it off.

You could also set macro security to Low in Access - I've never heard of a macro virus in Access (I wouldn't set it to Low in Word or Excel).

Thanks for the link, Hans. I've been struggling to understand how to work around the sandbox mode, and that article was very clear.

Thanks, Hans. I followed the instructions to switch off sandbox mode, but they also say that the database must be set as "trusted". How is this done?

Thanks, Hans. However, is it possible to set a location as trusted for all users, or must this be done separately by each user?

I don't know if it is possible to set a trusted location for all users.

An alternative is to "sign" the database with a digital certificate. The link from my previous reply has details. Each user will be prompted once to trust the certificate.
