    'Missing Shortcut...' (SR2)

    Hi -

When I open a document from a Desktop shortcut or from a Directory, I get a message that is on screen for perhaps 3 seconds saying “Missing shortcut…Windows is searching for cookie.exe……” Then all is well: the document opens.

This is a minor, minor annoyance but I cannot figure out where I should put cookie.exe to avoid this message. Currently the shortcut to Cookie.exe is in C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10oft OfficeOffice10Startup
The Cookie.exe app is in C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOfficeStartup
I removed it from OfficeStartup but still get that message.

    Thank you.

Cookie.exe appears to be associated with the CookieWall application. Do you have that? If so, try uninstalling CookieWall (and if you want to go on using it, reinstall it).

Cookie.exe is also mentioned as part of the Nymph worm (malware), but then it would occur in a .zip file.

    Thanks, Hans.

I did delete the version of CookieWall I had been using (1.0) and downloaded 1.1 - which did clear up the problem. However, I encountered a new one: Auto Start wasn't functioning. I will post my problem in Software.

    Appreicate your suggestion,

    Acer
