Currency Data Entry (A2K)

This is just a small visual thing.

Data entry field in continuous form is set for currency, and therefore looks like this:

$0.00.

When viewed in a continuous form, it's not the neatest thing visually speaking to see long
columns of $0.00.

Is it possible to have this data input field appear "blank" and still be formatted for currency
when numeric data is entered?
Cheers,
Andy

Sorry, I don't understand your question.

Do you mean that you want the field to be blank if nothing has been entered into it yet? If so, clear the Default Value property of the field (or of the text box bound to the field).
Or do you want to hide all zero values, even if they have been entered deliberately? If so, you can set the Format property of the field (or of the text box bound to the field) to

$#,##0.00;($#,##0.00);""

The first part is for positive numbers, the second part for negative numbers and the third part for zero values.

Re: Currency Data Entry (A2K)

Mornin' Hans:

I always manage to confuse.

The first instance was correct, ie. the field is empty and nothing has been entered.

However, the default value at this point is blank.

However, when I entered the formatting you suggested, it cleared it out very nicely.

However, when they enter the field to put in data, it has defaulted to zero, so it has to be deleted first.

However, it's a whole lot better than an long line of $0.00's.

Thanks kindly,
Cheers,
Andy

Your statements

> However, the default value at this point is blank.
> However, when they enter the field to put in data, it has defaulted to zero

seem to contradict each other. Why has the value defaulted to zero if the default value is blank?

Sorry for the delay in replying, Hans. Had to go out and do the chiropractic thing for my old bod.

Your solution worked as always once I removed the Default to 0 in both the form AND THE TABLE!!!!

Thanks again,
Cheers,
Andy
