DB Doesn't Show Up On Recently Open Files List (XP SP2)

I recently copied a database to create a new one. Old One is: DistInfo. New one was renamed: TelemarketingAccts. Both are in same folder. However, the new one does not show up on my recently opened files list - ever. I can browse and find it. Any ideas as to what needs to be changed to have the new database recognized in the recently opened files list?

Opening the new database from Windows Explorer or from within Access should add it to the recently opened file list.

Hans, I do open it from within Access. It may show on the list for an hour or so but by the next day it has disappeared from that list. I can't figure it out. Obviously, not the world's biggest problem, but it is a nuisance.

Thanks!

Try the following:
- Make sure that Access is not open.
- Select Start | Run...
- Type regedit and press Enter.
- In RegEdit, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice10.0Access Settings.
- In the right hand pane, click on MRU1, then Shift+click on MRUFlags9 (or whatever the last MRUFlags entry is).
- Press Delete and confirm.
- Close RegEdit.

Your recently used files list in Access will now be completely empty, forcing Access to fill it anew as you open databases. See if the new database will now remain in the list. Post back if not.

Check Recently used file list, I think 4 is the default, if yours is set to 4 your db may just be dropping of the list as other dbs are opened, hike it up to 9

Hans, I will try your suggestion later today when I am not rushed.

John, I do have my List set to allow 9 items on it.

Thank you both!!

Re: DB Doesn't Show Up On Recently Open Files List (XP SP2)

Hans, I did clean out the registry per your instructions. Opened both my regular db called DistInfo and the TelemarketingAccts (which is the one I created by copying the DistInfo one and renaming).

Re-booted the computer and no joy. TelemarketingAccts still does not show up.

I am totally baffled. Both are in the same folder. It's like something in the Tele db didn't get renamed properly. Any thoughts?

What happens if you rename the problem database in Windows Explorer? Does it show up in the MRU list when you open it?

Hans, I renamed the db thru Windows Explorer. Opened it. Rebooted the computer.

Would you believe that BOTH the old and new names showed up on my list?

I give!

At least something worked (at least for now

Thanks for all your help. It is really appreciated!!!!!!!!!
