    Web Accessories (5-6)

I have recently updated to IE 6 (which is still in beta). As an experiment I also included the IE5 add-ins :

    webdevaccess.exe; tbwlpapr.exe; 1e5wa.exe; pwrtwks.exe

They are available here, (scroll down a bit), where there are more details of what they do.

So far they have behaved impeccably, and do exactly what they say they will, but ymmv. (For the most part, they are not supported by MS)

    Hi Lonnie
One of them lets you zoom in on any image. Now I can really see what you look like <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Re: Web Accessories (5-6)

This is neat indeed. Thanks for pointing it out. One question:

    MS writes:
    . Web Search
Here's another tool for searching faster than ever. With this Web Accessory you can select keywords on a Web page, right-click, and choose Web Search. Your selected words go directly to a default search engine.

Does anyone know how to set the default search engine (program's default is Yahoo)?

    Re: Web Accessories (5-6)

Hi Leif -- thanks. Yes, IE 5.

No, I was referring explicitly to the right-click web search facility that becomes available by installing the Web Accessories mentioned above
    see <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/IE/WebAccess/ie5tools.asp>http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/IE/...s/ie5tools.asp</A>

The WA web search facility there gives you Yahoo (while the "Search" in the Status Bar gives you [or me <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>] Altavista).

    Re: Web Accessories (5-6)

    Forgot to mention:
In IE6 beta is a function called Smart Tags, apparently especially useful if you have Office XP, which also employs the idea. Keywords on web pages are underlined in dotted purple. When hovered on, a clickable icon pops up with relevant links. So far I've seen Microsoft, Verisign and Yahoo so underlined.
In the consumer version that will be out soon, Smart Tags will not be included.

    Re: Web Accessories (5-6)

I've installed all of these, they work like a charm!

Do you know of any toolsets from MS that enhance Windows 98 in the same manner? I can tweak till i'm blue, but is there anything particularly useful out there with regard to file managment/handling/general operations, etc.?

    Thanks!

    HI
    Great. Glad to hear it.
There are literally thousands of the sort of file you want, though anyone who can point me to a decent spell-checker that works in Notepad in Win 2k would earn my eternal gratitude.
For a few freeware ideas, have a look at my website. Another excellent shop window is <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.nonags.com/nonags/index.html>nonags </A>
