Reinstall Outlook (Office 2003 Professional)

Somehow or other during the installation of Outlook and re-importing my contact information, something went wrong. Whenever I would want to place an address in the To box of an e-mail, I would get an error message that my contact folder had been deleted or was missing. Yet, by navigating I could still find all of my addresses. This got to be a pain. I decided to copy my PST file to a safe location, uninstall the entire Office, and start all over again. I had expected that since the PST file had been removed from its location, Outlook would create a new empty file and I could try importing folder by folder. However, now that I have re-installed Office, when I start Outlook it tells me that it cannot find a PST file and it also does not create a new one. How can I make Outlook create a new PST?

Open the Mail control panel.
Click E-mail Accounts...
Click View or change existing e-mail accounts..., then click Next.
You can select an existing .pst file as delivery location, or create a new one.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am not sure what you mean by the Mail control panel. Once Outlook decides there is no PST, it closes and I can not do anything else.

In Windows, select Start | Settings | Control Panel or Start | Control Panel (whichever is available).
Either click "Switch to Classic View", or click "Other Control Panel Options".
You should see many items, Mail is one of them.
Double click Mail to open it.
