Can't turn off drag to release (2003 SP3)

    1. Drag cursor across several cells to highlight them
    2. Then cannot click in any manner to turn off the "drag to highlight" function
    3. Mouse cursor is trapped in this function
    4. Must resort to Task Manager (WinXP) to shut down Excel

    Just a couple of ideas

    1) Have you tried another mouse
    2) Is you shift key stuck (or need cleaning)

Also check whether the status bar contains the word EXT. If so, you're in extend mode. Pressing F8 should toggle it off.

Erm, you already asked the same question in September: <post:=667,624>post 667,624</post:>. You didn't report whether the reply there (the same I gave now) helped or not...

Sorry, I forgot to reply back then. apologies. Oddly, it did not reoccur until now. As soon as we see it again, I will get back to you to let you know how it worked.
