    can i force validation of cells (excell 2003)

    can i force validation of cells, so that in D7:J11 counts how many questions have been answered and ONLY allowing 4 answers. forcing the rule that if you try and enter more than 4 question results you will not be allowed to enter data and a warning sign will appear?

    not sure if this is possible, i know you can use this validation rule in Access but no idea if or how to do it in excel

    thanks catt

    Select D7:J11

    Data - Validation...
    Allow: Custom
    Formula:
    =AND($K7<=4,ISNUMBER(D7))
    [Enter input Message/Error Alert as desired]
    <ok>

    If the number of questions in col K is more than 4 or the value is not a number, it will give a message.
