    Proxy Problems (IE7 7.0.5730.13)

I've installed IE7 and it was - apparently - working OK. I maintain a website and obviously have to upload amended pages. The method used by the website is to copy the files in my filestore, open the FTP page, and simply 'paste them' into the page. 'Something' then uploaded the files; I presumed this something was IE6 (was it?)
Everything worked OK with IE6; now I have tried for the first time with IE7 and it is not working. The FTP page is displayed as Read Only (ie I can't Paste the copied files as this option is greyed out on the context menu) and there is a message at the top of the page saying

To view this FTP site in Windows Explorer, click Page, and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer.

If I attempt to do this, I get the error attached.
I don't understand what a proxy server is and on my PC, I have administrator permissions
Can anyone help, please? I must update the website and soon. I feel completely helpless on this one.
    Thanks

    Hi Silverback

I have a feeling it maybe your current Service Pack ( Are you on SP3?)

    Try this

    Open a text file

    1) Type explorer.exe ftp://[folder identity]
    2) Save as bat file
    3) Execute.

    Hopefully this is a work around......I hope <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

See FTP in IE7 - The Art of Using FTP Within Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (as far as I can tell, it confirms Jezza's recommendation to FTP from Windows Explorer).

    Hi Jezza, Hans
    Thanks for your inputs.
    1. Am on SP2 - windows update is not offering me SP3, so don't know about that particular item.
    2. Tried your .bat file; it didn't work, giving the same error as for IE7 i.e. same error as the attached picture)
    3. On the link page suggested by Hans, I could not get the suggestion to work
    so . . .
did a system restore back to IE6 and everything is working again.

All of this is not very satisfactory, in my book. I've had endless prompts from Windows Update about installing IE7 and how good it is. I am not impressed that MS can issue a product like this with key features omitted, but heh, they're the ones making all the money!
    Many thanks to you both
