Does anyone know what Compacting Emails in Vista's Mail does? I have read somewhere (can't recall where) that the 'automatic compacting' has caused some users to loose their emails. I have found where this feature is and for the timebeing have turned it off pending 'feeling comfortable'

Compacting a mail database should reclaim empty space that exist after items are permanently deleted. BTW, you should check out Windows Live Mail at Windows Live Services. It is the successor to Outlook Express and Windows Mail. It was released this week.
