Try resetting the "Do not search from the Address bar" setting

    Ctrl-Enter Screwed Up (IE 6)

    Edited by Leif to turn ridiculously long URL into link so I don't have to scroll into the next office to read it...
    ~~~~~
    This happened to me before, and, being impatient, I ended up re-installing Windows to fix it.
    There's got to be an easier way.
    If I enter, for example, "msnbc" (no quotes) in the address bar, and hit Ctrl-Enter, it should give me
    http://www.msnbc.com.
    That's what it was doing.
    Now I get this
    A Cox (my ISP) search page.
    How the heck do I get back to just the "default" key assignments?
    Regards,
    Chuck Billow
    Leif:
    I did, but then if I type "msnbc" with Ctrl-Enter, I get "http://msnbc/", which doesn't work either.
    OK, then try:
    Tools > Internet Options > Content > AutoComplete >
    and select "Use AutoComplete for... Web addresses"
    By the way, you get the same thing if you just use the enter key, the control key is NOT required, at least on my machines.
    Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
    Re: Ctrl-Enter Screwed Up (IE 6)
    Joe:
    It started because I had lost the ability to have hitting "ctrl-Enter" auto-add the "http://www" and the com (or net or org) and then launch.
    No. No. What was it specifically on the page you posted that was the fix?
    Even more reading for you here at How-To Geek, including how to change the default
.com
suffix to (e.g.)
.ca
or
.co.uk
, and notes on using the shortcut in Opera and Firefox...
