    backups (XP SR2)

Does anyone know of a way in which we can Word to transfer its backup copies to a directory other than the one where the original file is?

As far as I know, you can't change the built-in feature. There may be third-party add-ins that provide the feature you want.

(I can see a problem with using a fixed backup folder if you have documents with the same name in different folders. Imagine that you have a document named Loveletter.doc in the folder C:Letters2Wife and another document also named Loveletter.doc in the folder C:Letters2Mistress. Restoring a backup could be embarrassing...)

thanks very much for this. Is it worth noting that the e-mail notification of your reply didn't seem to come through to me?

We're still experiencing problems with sending out e-mails from the new server - sometimes it doesn't work. For the moment it's bet to check for replies in Woody's Lounge itself. Sorry for the inconvenience.
