    Linked tables (2000)

Can IP addresses be used instead of drive letters to reference external data being used in linked tables? If so, how?

    Thanks,
    Eric

    Re: Linked tables (2000)

I have never tried IP address, but I do know you do not have to have a drive letter.
We connect everything in our databases using the full network path.

    For example: NCMainUserCommonFrankMyDatabase.mdb.

This wroks well and we do not need to change the link
for users who have the drive linked via a different drive letter.

    Hope this helps.

Following Richard (aheron)'s example, you can probably use

    120.230.34.45UserCommonFrankMyDatabase.mdb

Thanks, it works! That's exactly where we are - we're in transition and have different users on the same drive using different drive letters.
