EFW File Extension

Is this fairly new? I downloaded a file from Acronis which had .efw for the file extension and I found that I needed to rename it to .exe to get it to open. They didn't include any instructions about doing this in their email so I was "in the dark" for a bit. The software they offered is for a "free registry scan" but I see that it says that I should "register it" to be able to remove all those errors. It allows the removal of 15 of them....... For some reason, I really dislike programs like these and I think they should give at least one "free" cleanup job. Anyway, I've learned something today - .efw file extensions need to be changed to be able to access the file.

    Re: EFW File Extension

See EFW File Extension - Open .EFW files for info about this extension.

(Apparently it was originally an .exe file, but security software changed the extension to .efw)

Thanks Hans! That's the site that I found to help me solve my problem. I should have included it in my post - shame on me for not doing so - so I'm very glad you did!
