Rule to NOT play a sound (2003 SP 2)

I receive a lot of messages that I can't avoid but don't need to do anything with. I have rules that mark them as read and delete them. I would like to have it set up where the e-mail notify sound does not play, but I can't find a way to change the rule. I see where there you can have Outlook perform a custom action or run a script, but I am pretty ignorant on those features. Thanks for any help.

You'd be better off turning the sound off in Tools | Options | Preferences | E-mail options button | Advanced e-mail options button | When new items arrive in by Inbox section. Then create a rule to play a sound when e-mail arrives and make sure it runs after your rules to delete e-mail (it is below the others in the list of rules). Also, make sure that each of the rules to delete e-mail has a 'stop processing more rules' at the end.

Joe, thanks for the suggestion. I have changed my settings and rules accordingly. We'll see how it goes. Thanks again.
