    Wow, that's a tall order! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

OK, for starters there's Paint Shop Pro X and FastStone MaxView and I bet others will come up with more. Good luck and let us know when you find it.

    Have you ever tried Irfanview?
    http://www.irfanview.com/

From a quick look at the XnView site it seems you need a separate app (Nconvert) to do batch conversions, whereas IrfanView is a one-stop shop.

If you want a nice <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> program for editing look at Paint.NET - Free Software for Digital Photo Editing.

Edited by Bigaldoc to add URL code.[/i] See the Quick Guide, or the 1-Click TagPanel, or even <!post=this StarPost.,438749>this StarPost.<!/post>

Thanks to both of you for your quick replies. Actually Irfan is the one I was thinking of. Since I also need an image editor which could do more than both, I downloaded a program I'd heard but never tired.

It is the open source GIMP. It's almost like PhotoShop.

    GIMP - Windows installers

    Again, thanks

    Re: picture editor/viewer

If you find the Gimp a bit daunting or overkill, I've heard good reports about the <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> PhotoFiltre:

"PhotoFiltre is a complete image retouching program. It allows you to do simple or advanced adjustments to an image and apply a vast range of filters on it. It is simple and intuitive to use, and has an easy learning curve. The toolbar, giving you access to the standard filters with just a few clicks, gives PhotoFiltre a robust look. "
