    Enable Start menu (XP SP2)

Dell support helped sort out a problem, but disabled the start menu option - I had far too many items. However I want to add one or two programms at start up but I cannot find how to kill the disable setting on Start. I have been through the properties and advanced options but I cannot track the enable option.

Re: Enable Start menu (XP SP2)

Can you clarify - you do mean the "Startup" menu, and not the "Start" menu?

Does MSKB 292504: Policy settings for the Start menu in Windows XP sound like it may apply?

If it does, and you are at all unsure about working in the registry, please post back!

Re: Enable Start menu (XP SP2)

    Dear Leif,
Sorry to not accurately named the problem area! It is the Start menu which has been disabled. I have looked at the MS page you suggested, and this is of course relevant, but it details all the options for disabling features via the registry edit. Is there a way to simply return to the default setting for the Start menu ?

    Regards

Try Tweak # 289 (left hand side) from Troubleshooting Windows XP, Tweaks and Fixes for Windows XP.
