    Sorting Contacts (Outlook 2000 SP3)

I have my Outlook 2000, Tool, Options, Default File Order set to Last, First yet when I create a new email and click on the "To" button to bring up my contacts in that order they still are showing as first, last. I know there is some setting and I believe it is in the Control Panel under the Mail icon that makes this contact list show up as I want it, Last, First but I can't seem to find it. It has been too long since I used Outlook 2000. I did not setup a profile since I am the only user. I did setup an email account with all my calendar appointments and contacts imported. They are all there just not behaving as I want.

Does anyone remember where to make the change to make the contacts show up Last, First once you hit the "To" button in Outlook 2000?

    Thanks

See if the Star Post Re: Sort Outlook Address Book (Outlook 2002) helps (applies to other versions of Outlook too).

I did look at that Hans but it does not work for Outlook 2000. Must have changed by Outlook 2002 which that post is about. I know it can be done because I have done it before I just can't seem to remember how I did it.

See Sperry Software - Contacts Sort Order Outlook Add-In. There is a <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> addin available. Also, there are instructions for each Outlook release from 2000 and newer on how to set the contact order.

Thanks Joe. However I finally figured it out. I had installed Outlook as Internet Email only and what I was looking for was not available. After reconfiguring Outlook to Corporate/Workgroup the option I needed was indeed available under the "Mail" icon in control panel. So now all is well.

No problem Joe. At times these darn computers really get me to pulling out the little hair I have left. I knew it could be done but just couldn't remember how. I'll have to see if my memory is any better the next time.
