    Conditional Format (2003)

I need to highlight the weekend dates in a column. In Column C the day is returned based on a custom format 'ddd' depending on the date that is entered in column B. Any help -greatly appreciated....see attached

    Re: Conditional Format (2003)

Select B4:B27 (or B4:C27 if you also want to highlight weekend days in column C). I'll assume that B4 is the active cell within the selection.
    Select Format | Conditional Formatting...
Select Formula Is from the first dropdown.
Enter the following formula in the box next to it:

    =WEEKDAY($B4,2)>5

Click Format... and specify the formatting you want.
    OK your way out.

Perfect. I read the help associated with 'weekday' so I understand the formula now.
    thanks again
