    BackEnd Reports (A2K)

Iíve gone trolling thru the forum looking for a question/answer combination that suits my problem, but couldnít find the correct combination.

    Scenario:

Tables_BE.mdb is sitting on the server with all of the data

Multiple users cannot all use the same FrontEnd on the server. This is a given.

    So

User_01_FE.mdb is sitting on the server
Shortcut to User_01.FE.mdbis sitting on User 1ís Desktop

User_02_FE.mdb is sitting on the server
Shortcut to User_02.FE.mdbis sitting on User 2ís Desktop

    Etc.

If a front end change is made to Reports or Queries, it is necessary to go to each FE and make the necessary change.

Is it possible to put ONLY the Reports and the reports-related Queries in one database on the server and have the users refer to them from their own front-ends?

If this is possible, what would be the command structure to open:

    rpt ReportA

    found in

Reports.mdb (which also contains the relevant query with the assumption that these queries are linked to the BE Tables)

From any of the User Front Ends?

As always, thanks in advance for any help with this,
    Cheers,
    Andy

    Re: BackEnd Reports (A2K)

You cannot run a report in database A from database B.

You could use the techniqe very briefly described by <!profile=Support4John>Support4John<!/profile> in <post:=574,171>post 574,171</post:>. Or you could use a utility to update the front ends, such as <!profile=WendellB>WendellB<!/profile>'s DB Launcher or Tony Toews' Auto FE Updater.

    Thanks Hans,

I thought it might be logical, but I guess that should have been the first clue that it would be unlikely. I'll have a look at your suggested links,
    Cheers,
    Andy
