    Upsizing Problem (Access 2003 - SQL 2005)

    Hi,

I having upsizing difficulties. I have an instance of SQL 2005, locally. I can upsize the Access tables without a problem when ticking 'Use Trusted Connection'.

Ive recently installed an instance of SQL 2005 on a server and now I cant upload the Access tables.

The Surface Area Configuration for Services and Connections, have the 'Local & Remote Connections' and 'Using TCP/IP Only' radio buttons selected.

When trying to run the upsize wizard I get the attached message.

Does anyone have any ideas I could try please?

    Many Thanks.

Re: Upsizing Problem (Access 2003 - SQL 2005)

    Hi Lee,
I don't use the upsizing wizard. When I need to get Access tables into SQL Server, I open SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) create a database (don't load it with any tables), right click on that newly created db, hightlight <Tasks> and choose Import Data. Follow that wizard's instructions. I trust that utility more than I do the Upsizing wizard. Also, If you can log into your SQL Server with SSMS, and you are at least a dbo of that database, you shouldn't have any permission's issues.
If this won't or can't work, then.....Is the SQL Server part of the domain?... Is SQL Server set for Windows Authentication or both Windows and SQL Authentication? You need to check your permissions for SQL Server. Just having a login on the machine is not enough. Access will attach itself to SQL using the Window's logon of the current user of the machine, so you need to make sure it matches the SQL Server login. Unless you are the machine administrator and the BuiltInAdministrators groups is not disabled, you do not have any "automatic" permissions.

    Hi gdrezek,

Many thanks for that. I'll give SSMS a go and post how I get on. If not I'll walk through the other points you have mentioned.

    Regards.
