MS Word 2002 bottom margin problem (Word 2003 11.8169.8172)

I work in a High Schools computer lab and am having problems with printing the bottom margins of the papers that the students are writing. When the bottom margin is set for one inch the finished product comes out with and inch and a half. I have played around with all the settings on the printer a Dell laser jet w3500 to no avail. I was hoping that someone on this board would be able to instruct me on how to set the margins in Word so that they print out with a bottom margin of one inch. I found that if the setting was set to .7 that the bottom margin comes out to be one and one sixteenth of an inch. That is a close as I can get to one inch. I need someone to tell me what I am doing wrong. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

Check carefully that the correct paper size has been specified in File | Page Setup, e.g. Letter (most common in the USA) vs A4 (used in Europe).
