    exponential fitting (2003)

Is it possible to fitt a plotted curve using a double exponential equation, of the form: a*exp(-alpha*x)+ b*exp(-beta*x) ?

    thank you,

    Re: exponential fitting (2003)

You could use the Solver add-in for this:
    - Enter estimated values for a, alpha, b and beta in four cells.
    - In the column next to the actual y values, enter formulas to calculate the modeled y values using the four cells.
    - In the column next to that, calculate the square of the difference between the actual and modeled y values.
    - In a cell somewhere below that, calculate the sum of the squared differences.
    - Use Solver to minimize this sum by varying the four parameter cells.

    See the attached workbook.
