    Taskbar blank (XP SP2)

Edited by HansV to replace Word document with the picture it contained

Hi friends. All of a sudden (1) With more than one file open at the same time, there is no evidence of them on the task-bar; (see attachment); (2) The "My Home" Internet access hot key will not open my browser also the E-Mail hot key on the "Logitech" cordless keyboard will not open O.E. though all other keys work including the "Back" key. I have also changed the batteries thinking they may be low but to no avail. (3) I used to be able to minimize all open windows hitting the Start & D keys together once, now all of a sudden, I have to hit the said keys twice to minimize all open windows but the strange thing is after minimizing all I can toggle the last open window with a single click of the said shortcut keys which is as it always has been till just now. Any help would be appreciated. Dave.

    1) I'm not sure this will help, but it shouldn't hurt either:
    - Go to Troubleshooting Windows XP, Tweaks and Fixes for Windows XP.
    - Scroll down to the line numbered 164.
    - Click the link on the left hand side (Restore Taskbar to Default Functionality).
    - Download the .vbs file to your hard disk.
    - Switch to Windows Explorer and open (double-click) the .vbs file.

2/3) This sounds like a technical problem with the keyboard.

Hi Hans. I did a System Restore on the off chance it would rectify the problem and it did - don't know what caused the problem but it's back to normal now. Thanks for the information anyway, I have filed it away in my Help folder for future use just in case it happens again. Thanks Dave.

When I lose a program from the taskbar, I always hit Alt+Tab to the one that I lost from the taskbar.
