Free software to send photos small size

Someone l know who is not very computer literate is having problems emailing photos a small size i.e they are way to large.
They cannot use picasa as it does not work with there camera. Is there an free alternative software , it needs to really simple and easy to use for somone who is new to computers. i.e no frills to complicate them , just resize a photo then send it.

You could search The Lounge. You'll find IRFANVIEW mentioned lots and lots of times.

In addition to IrfanView, if they are using Windows XP they can use the image resizer, a part of the free Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP

Another free product that has good reviews is the FastStone Photo Resizer

    Two things to try:

1] This Microsoft Resize digital pictures quickly article leads to the free Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP which includes an image resizer.

2] This article at Fresh Mango discusses using the built-in 'Resizing Images for Emailing with Windows XP' feature.

But if your friend doesn't have XP, perhaps you could tell us which OS they have?

I realise you already have a solution but I'm curious about your comment that "Picasa doesn't work with thier camera".

I've used Picasa 2 on both a Win 98 PC and a Win 2000 box and I as far as I know it 's not camera dependant.

Picasa simply indexes all the images on designated folders on your PC. You can control which folders Picasa indexes via Tools | Folder Manager. If your friend was to connect the camera to the PC I'd guess it would show up as a removable drive within the Folder Manger.
