Workbook Protection (97 SR2)

I've got a rouge user who created a workbook in Excel. Now we have some people who need to make changes to it, but he's protected the book.

I'm looking for a method to crack this protection, as far as I can tell, he's done a tools | Protection | Protect Sheet and Protect Book.

Thanks for your help!

Unless you pay to have the password cracked or hunt the net for a freeware cracker, another solution is to copy the contents of the workbook (one sheet at a time) to a new unprotected workbook.
This can then be edited.

This will fail of course if there is any VB code in the book. This may be copied too, unless it is also protected.

They've used some formulas, and these formulas will not copy over..

If anyone has a util to do this, that would help!

Thanks!

Hi Drk,
Can you post the workbook? I have something that may work - it won't tell you the password but should be able to unprotect it so I could save an unprotected version.
Hope that helps.

Hi Catharine,
If you format the formula cells as hidden as well as protected and then protect the workbook, the formulae can't be seen and only the values will copy across, not the formulae.
Hope that helps.

Sorry 'bout that...
