Auto Update (XP Pro)

Not sure if this should be here or in .Net.

Automatic updates is telling me there is an update ready to install, but it won't install because it is trying to update .net 1.1 and As i installed version 2 months ago it fails but but won't go away.

Is there a way to tell Automatic updates to ignore an update?

You can reset to "Notify me but do not automatically download or install them" and when the update window notifies you, tick the Custom install option and then click Next. When the update window opens, uncheck the unwanted update and click next. You should get a prompt telling your that an unchecked update will not be installed and a checkbox option to not remind you about the update again. It fails for a different reason. You can and should have multiple versions of .NET installed concurrently. Some programs require specific versions of .NET to function. You could try uninstalling .NET 1.1, Then download and installNET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package. Then download and install Download details: .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.

I did have .net 1.1 installed but I followed your instructions and reinstalled it. all seems fine now, so thank you very much.
