Open to contacts (Outlook 2003)

How can you get Outlook 2003 to open to contacts? A friend of mine is working on a prof. new computer. He wants it set up exactly like his old computer where Outlook 2003 opens to contacts. He does not use it for email but more like a rolodex. I really have no idea.

Any ideas?

Select Tools | Options...
Activate the Other tab.
Click Advanced Options...
Click the Browse... button next to the "Startup in this folder" box.
Select Contacts.
OK your way out.

Try Command-line switches.

It looks like the switch you want is:

/select foldername

Starts Outlook and opens the specified folder in a new window. For example, to open Outlook and display the default contacts use: "c:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice11Outlook.exe" /select outlook:contacts
