Word Variable Printing (Word 2003)

I need to complete a mail merge letter. However, within the letter I need to somehow have two different sections of the letter have (A) information, if X=1 or ( information if X=2. Its hard to explain, but I hope this makes sense. I'm not sure if I should use a formula somehow? Or a field? Or really where to start. I'm on a tight time line with work, so really any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

I don't do many mail merges, but you can use Word's "IF" field code to compare values. This Microsoft knowledge base article has some examples: How to specify multiple conditions with a nested IF field in Word (MSKB 211363).
