    Microsoft's Helpless Site-ISO reference material (Access97 SR2)

It took me nearly forever to discover that I'd been designing the interfaces incorrectly, thanks to MS' pathetic online libraries.
I mean 6 layers deep in the HELP section, you finally get to the all-too-important On Not in List event, yet no sample code was available...
So I had to go to the MS Site...which was thankfully provided via link by PaulK <img src=/S/bow.gif border=0 alt=bow width=15 height=15>

    <A target="_blank" HREF=http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q161/0/07.asp>http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/ar...s/Q161/0/07.asp</A>

It took me 1 full hour of goofing around with their klutzy Javascript/ASP interface.
Unfortunately, they were more interested in pointing me to matters involving XP.
1 hour later after numerous, frustrating searches, I realized that those links to downloadable Access 97 whitepapers were no longer valid.
    That's it... <img src=/S/surrender.gif border=0 alt=surrender width=31 height=23>

Is there an existing post with a series of Access 97 reference links?
You guys seem a bit more up-to-date on where these freakin' things are.

Well, as Sonny and Cher sang ' the beat goes on'... MS is interested in giving their latest products the spotlight. Such is life

Try this MS Knowledge Base file
"Office Developer Samples and Tools Available for Download" at

There's also the 'Building Applications' manual at

Like all help files, Microsoft's require learning how to use them. The 97 files were actually friendly compared to the HTML help in later versions.

If you want help for coding NotInList, open any module then click on the Help menu and select Microsoft Access Help. Click on the Find tab and type NotInList into the first textbox. The seventh item down is "NotInList Event". That will take you to an article which contains a link to "Event Procedures". Clicking that link gets you to an article with a link to a sample NotInList event procedure. Is that what you meant about 6 layers deep? I count 3 at most.

Well, I'll be damned. They're right there.
I swear I was searching correctly, but not through the modules section. (As if THAT had anything to do with it)

Thanks, Charlotte. This should serve me well in the future.

Now if someone would just instruct me on how to correctly navigate that Microsoft site... <img src=/S/dizzy.gif border=0 alt=dizzy width=15 height=15>

HTML help is even more context sensitive than the 97 version. Think of all the fun you have in store for you.

As for the MS site, I always go straight to the knowledgebase
