    Print Queue problem

I've been asked to help twice recently (not very successfully I have to say) with print queue problems.
Both have involved a document queued for printing - showing status Printing - which never completes. Therefore all succeeding print requests never get actioned.
Attempting to delete/cancel the document print request changes the status to Deleting - but this never completes either.
The first occurrence was on a PC running XP and Office 2007. (I fixed this by reinstalling the printer software)
The second is on a PC running Vista and Office Small Business Edition (Haven't managed to fix this yet - they are a long way away and my phone 'help' didn't do the biz)
    Questions are
    1. Why can't the 'stuck' file be removed?
    2. Can the 'stuck' file be removed? If so, how?
    3. Is two occurences in fairly close proximity a coincidence or do loungers know of a problem in this area?
    Thanks

    Re: Print Queue problem

    Try this:
    - Select Start | Run...
    - Type services.msc and press Enter.
    - Locate and select Print Spooler in the list of services.
    - Click Stop on the left hand side or on the toolbar or in the Action menu.
    - Wait a little bit.
    - Click Start on the left hand side or on the toolbar or in the Action menu.
    - Hopefully, the "stuck" print job has disappeared.

    I haven't heard of special print problems in the Warrington, Cheshire area. <img src=/S/innocent.gif border=0 alt=innocent width=20 height=20>

    Very droll. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

    Thanks for the services.msc tip.
It would seem that your reputation travels before you. When I contacted the person suffering from the problem, she started her computer, went through the routine that produced the print queue problems - and everything worked fine! Seems that you've frightened her PC into submission by remote control. Well done! She has now got your solution, though, in case it happens again.
    Many thanks
