Schedule scan by AVAST

Is there a way to schedule an automated virus scan by AVAST (free version) other than the boot-time scan? Thanks.

This feature is only in the professional (paid) version, see How can I schedule a scan in specified time?

See HOWTO: Scheduled Automatic Scans w/ Free Version! from the Avast support forums for a procedure.

I've seen that suggestion before and tried it.

    He says

I'm not sure with what sort of depth that ashQuick.exe scans, but it beats nothing at all.

I'm not even sure that ashQuick.exe runs a scan at all. It certainly didn't seem to when I tried it. I concluded that the author of that post didn't really know what he was talking about.

    FWIW
You could try " avast! External Control 1.6.297" on http://www.excessive-software.eu.tt/, but,

    1) it only sets a scan at boot time, so you would need a BIOS that can be set to start your computer at a predefined time (some Dell BIOSes can do it)
    2) I am not sure if it works with aVast! 4.7
