find duplicates in lists (2003)

    Hi All

I have two lists of names. I'd like to generate a third list of just the names that are in both of the original lists - i.e. the duplicates. How would I do that?
    Thanks much

See the attached demo workbook. I've used MATCH and INDEX formulas.

(Edited by Jezza on 13-Dec-07 22:42. To add attachment)
Hi Nancy

Say you have a list of names in A1:A10 and a list of names in B1:B10, in Cell C1 type:

    =IF(COUNTIF($A$1:$A$10,B1)>0,B1,"")

    then copy down to B10

Therefore if the bane in column B is found in Column A it will put that name in the corresponding call in column C
