Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

    Re: Rootkits

Gave my PC a clean bill of health, after a 7m 14s scan. Nice result for me, but not in line with their motto "We detect the threats that others miss" (I use free versions of Avira Antivir Personal Edition and ZoneAlarm).

The scan runs without an install, after a small (600kb) download. It does prompt you to install after it's done (I opted not to).

A Google for reviews of Prevx CSI presents a mixed bag, but mostly positive. Main complaint seems to be that it only finds problems, and you need to upgrade the free product (ie. buy) to fix them. Seems a reasonable compromise, especially since you're free to pursue other options to cure your sick PC.

Didn't find any reviews of the paid for version, except a few download sites editorials cut & pasted from the product site.

The concepts of community (herd) intelligence, incremental detection, etc, sound promising, especially their PR slide show.

My opinion: Mostly harmless; a potential addition to my toolkit if independent positive info comes to light.
