    DSL filters

Carrying on from <post:=683,114>post 683,114</post:>, I plan to put a cheap phone in every available socket. I'm too old/lazy to run the length of this apartment when the phone rings.

I have two DSL filters devices, about the size of my thumb; they filter out the hiss that arrives with my (Toronto) Bell Sympatico DSL signals.
Do I buy another five of these at my local Radio Shack/The Source store?
It seems to me that I need one for each telephone, unless I want to revert to the old scheme of trailing a million miles of voice-only extension cables throughout my abode.

If you insist on plugging in phones then yes you need filters for each. Why don't you buy a set that have wireless extensions so only one is plugged in?

You mean, I think, pairs of phones, thereby halving the number of filters?
Perhaps because I am wary of wireless, and to date haven't enjoyed it at all.

Not just pairs. In the USA you can get something such as one of the systems at AT&T Store: Multi-Handset Systems. There are many others too. With the newer cordless phones the sound quality is much better than it was just a few years ago.
