Favicon Identity Crisis (IE7)

I reckon it is a problem with your cache , first try Ctrl + F5 to flush it. A second tip is to click on the errant favicon in the address bar and drag it across and the right onto the url displayed in the address bar and that sometimes refreshes it to show the correct favicon for the site showing.

Any explanation why my favicon is "TS". Its been like that for two days now whenever I am in WOPR. Has Lex's initials changed that I do not know about?

Do you mean :
~ drag it right across the url or
~ drag it across and right of the url or
~ drag it across and right onto the url or... <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
...neither of these options worked <img src=/S/sorry.gif border=0 alt=sorry width=15 height=15>

I had the same problem a few weeks ago (the Lounge displayed the "Weather Network" icon <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15> ). Start>Search "favicon". When the search completed, I simply launched IE from the shortcut which was found. After that, everything was back to normal.

Rudi is using IE. I tried dragging and dropping the Favicon in IE7 and it doesn't seem to work. The drag and drop did reload the page within FF2 however.

You can drag the favicon into the browser window and the page will refresh within IE7

Curse my photographic memory, I remember the tip from leif back in 2004 <post:=417,910>post 417,910</post:> refers. I know it is obviously before IE7 but the thread leads to some interesting points lower down that may be of use.

Hey Rebel....
Your avice seems to work. When I searched for favicon, I got about 15 icons listed. I double clicked on one of them and when I browsed back to WOPR the icons were 'reset'!

Have a look at AM-DeadLink - Download FavIcons and detect dead links in your browser bookmarks. It can download the favicons so you aren't dependent on your TIF for them. You just need to run it periodically for favicon updates.
