Conditional Formatting query (2003 SP2)

Good afternoon

I have been playing around with Custom numbers in cells and have discovered that if I put ddd_dd_mmmm_yy I get something like Tue 1 Jan 08 etc.

In a workbook I have certain columns of dates that are all filled in from the value in D6, therefore if D6 is entered as 01/01/08 it shows Tue 1 Jan 08 and the following 30 cells follow on from there ie. Wed 2 Jan 08 etc.

Is it possible now that the cells can show what days are weekends that I can have another cell coloured by Conditional Formating, ie. IF='Weekend', if so what is the actual formula to show in Conditional Formatting

Cheers

Afternoon Steve

Try

=WEEKDAY(A1,2)>5

and format the CF as you wish

Select the cells. I'll assume that D6 is the active cell within the selection.
Select Format | Conditional Formatting...
Select Formula Is from the first dropdown list.
Enter the following formula in the box next to it:

=WEEKDAY(D6,2)>5

Click Format...
Specify the formatting you want.
OK your way out.

I'd substitute a weekday for the weekend anytime

Not today though, I can only see about 25 feet away, the fog (sorry Rudi, heavy mist ) it is very thick and getting thicker by the minute, I live about 10- 15 minute walk from T4 at Heathrow in a village called Stanwell and I have not heard a plane today. I tried to take a photo with the all singing and dancing Kodak digital camera I got for my birthday last weekend but the smallest I can get the picture is 750kb at the moment.

Maybe the picture of the very thick mist will look something like this?

I don't think there's a WEEKEND function in Excel...
