    USB FLASH DRIVES (Word 2003)

I have noticed on two different USB drives, one a PQI 150X 2 GB drive and a San Disk Cruzer 4GB with U3 capability that I occasionally get the Error Message "File Permission Error" when attempting to save the file to the USB drive from within Word. Saves from Windows Explorer seem to go smoothly. Has anyone else experienced this difficulty. Other than not saving files from Word to Flash Memory, is there any way to get around this difficulty?

Sometimes the problem is that the temp files are saved at the same location, and if there is a failed save, then these temp files can NOT be over written. One needs to delete them, and then you may not have this issue.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

It has always been recommended not to save a Word document directly to removable media, but to save it to hard disk, then to use Windows Explorer to copy that version to the removable media.
