    Yield to Maturity (YIELDMAT) (2003 (11.8146.8132) SP2)

I'm trying to calculate yield to maturity on a Treasury bond using YIELDMAT.

I use the function assistant and enter the data in the 5 fields: the first 3 using the date function, the 4th (interest rate) as a %, and the 5th either as a whole number or with 2 decimal places. I keep getting NUM# as an answer. What do I need to do differently?

    What dates are you using?

The function should work correctly as long as the settlement date is less than the maturity date and both of those are greater than the issue date. For the Rate, using a whole our fractional number will give you a result, but it should expressed as 0.##. (i.e 0.25 for 25%)

Thanks...I was using an incorrect settlement date.

Strange that Excel returns a different answer than WSJ and other calculators (2.34% vs. 3.34%).
