unable to connect to external dsl modem (XP Media Pro)

For some unknown reason, the internet connect failed. It worked without trouble the night before, then did not in the morning. When another computer is connected to the modem - it works just fine. No default connection shows in the accounts box. I re-installed the modem driver, the profiles indicate the device is working properly. System restore was not enabled. How do I fix this without paying the $99 tech support fee? Thanks.

    Try this:

open Command Prompt (Start > Run, type CMD and hit Enter) and execute two following commands, pressing Enter after each one:

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

After first command your IP address must be set to 0.0.0.0, and after the second your computer have to obtain a new IP address from DSL modem.
