    Re: Navigation bar on the side

    A bit of an open-ended question! What software package are you using (if any) to create your site? Do you want to use any scripts?

    There are a multitude of free resources on the web, such as BigNoseBird and Webmonkey.

    Let us know if you want simple hyperlinks, or snazzy slide-out menus, and we'll see what we can do to point you in the right direction.

    Good luck!

    Hi Gary

    There are a plethora of templates around , you just need to know where to look. <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

    What type of side menu bar are you looking for?

    A CSS styled one using list tags - example

    or

    Something a little more difficult - example

    Otherwise, this is the first I picked off the list for a Google search (css + html + templates) CSS templates

    Happy to help with the styling once you have made your choice <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Looks Good.

    Let's start at basics and work up as it seems your main postings have been in Access and Excel but I see we have spoken in Frontpage a couple of times.

    1) Can I assume you have a copy of Frontpage/Expression Web?
    2) You seem reasonably comfortable with HTML, yes?
    3) How are you on Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) which these templates need?
    4) Have you downloaded a copy of your favourite template?

    Probably easier to ask you what have you got? <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    3) Not sure.
    4) Yes, I has downloaded a copy of my favourite template and the code is attached.

    Sorry, I getting quite confused with your refrain "What should I do next?"

    What do you want to do next? Develop it, add your content, test it and publish it?

    What do you want to do next?

    HTML code moved to attachment by HansV

    Sorry for unclear info.

    Per my codes below, how can I add link a new web page to Test B tab on the navigation side?

    <big>Please post HTML code as an attachment! - HansV</big>

    Thanks

    Re: Navigation bar on the side

    I understand now. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Create a folder and call it say, MySite. This will now be the root folder where all your files will go including your images. If you keep all the files in the same folder while you are creating it it allows all the links to be "relative" and they can be moved to the server easily.

    Add you first page in there and call it index.htm, with the samer template save another file as newpage.htm

    You can now open index.htm and in your code the link will look like this:

    <div id="navigation">

    1) Test A</p>
    </div>

    Similar to our conversation in <post:=655,818>post 655,818</post:> <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

    Re: Navigation bar on the side

    Hi Jerry,

    I try it the codes and I am able to open the web pages by clicking the navigation bar. However, I have to modified navigation bar in each page (now I have five pages) if I need to add new tab in the navigation bar.

    So is any way to create navigation bar as separate page then links to each page. So I only need modify once if I add or delete the tab in navigation bar.

    Thanks

    Regards

    Re: Navigation bar on the side

    Hi Garyfei

    The trick is to do all the navigation links on only one of the pages, assuming you want it the same on each page of your website.

    I always create all of my pages , add my comments and then I find, even with the best plans, that I have to add a new page. This is the reason I do it on one page and one page only. Once I know it works I copy and paste the code into the others, knowing then it will be exactly the same <img src=/S/sneaky.gif border=0 alt=sneaky width=15 height=15>

    What you need to do is copy the code inside the navigation and extra div tags and paste it over the existing tags in the other pages, saves loads of time <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15> See image below, just remember my links are different but at least you will get the idea.
