It sounds like you need Shopping Trolley software. I was asking about this last month in <post:=676,457>post 676,457</post:>, the thread ends up differently but it may assist in the first part.

Maybe. Maybe not. I downloaded the EXE and it installs but there doesn't appear to be an off-line manual, and the online manual said it 'isn't available for purchase".
I bit, nearly swallowed, the bullet and installed it. I couldn't see quickly if it supported digital downloads; there were three delivery options ("express", "same day", etc).
I'm looking for something that will allow the user to

    Hi Chris

OK, a little digging came up with this which appears to hit all the buttons, I haven't tried it but it looks promising

Have you looked at the PayPal tools - Accept Credit Card, Accept Credit Cards - PayPal?

Thanks, Joe; yes I'd glanced at them.
I still haven't set up a PayPal account because I'm still not committed to PayPal . The buttons seem to be the regular PayPal devices, click a button, enter PayPal , pay, and PayPal sends to a URL notifiying that payment has been made.
I have a buddy here in Toronto who uses that, and on notification he heads off to his basement to find a cardboard box, wrapping paper etc.
I'm looking for software - either on PayPal , on a 3rd-party, or (I think) that sits on my web server that will issue/unlock the download as soon as payment is received.

That is, I want to rake in the money while lying on the beach.

There are links to a big list of compatible shopping carts at Website Payments Standard and Website Payments Pro: Compare - PayPal in the "shopping cart support" section. Order fulfillment is an entirely different area and you'll really have to do a lot of checkout to see if anything fits your needs.

Software to set up online shop?

Subject edited by HansV (this thread was originally posted in another forum)

Best forum to ask about "digital downloads paypal"?
I'm setting up a web site to sell training videos - 2mins each, $2.50 each, and need software to set up an online store; I'd rather not go through a third-party.
    Choices appear to be:

    <UL><LI>Software Finds and Wants
    <LI>Servers: Exchange / Mail / Fax / IIS
    <LI>Web Design, Coding and Scripting[/list]

'Owsabout RegSoft? Not a software solution, but maybe the easiest way to retirement.

(Don't expect me to buy anything though, they're steadfastly refusing to accept any of my cards at the moment...)

This might do the trick. I recognize that I should focus on what i do ("program in VBA") rather than become a one-time expert in web development.

    Thanks for the pointer

Re: Software to set up online shop?

After four years of dragging my heels, this morning at 10:25 a.m. I began creating a PayPal business account as a seller.
That done I went to e-junkie and opened up an account there. Trial free for one week.
Grabbed the HTML for the two buttons, pasted the html into one of web pages (right at the bottom of http://torontomacros.com/UnderXCalendar.html) and bought $5 of software off myself.
By 11:35 I received email notifying me that
    (1) I was $5 richer and
    (2) I was $5 poorer but could at least d/l some classy software from myself.
    That's progress, I guess.
Pricing on e-junkie looks a tad heavy, so I should probably set up those d/l which i think are most likely to generate revenue quickly, with a view to making the accounts self-supporting.

At any rate, just over 60 minutes from go to whoa has impressed me.

    Hi Chris,

I don't know if it is just me or if there is really something wrong with your site but I tried your link and got the error message:

Give me 24 hours, sorry. I decided to rid myself of all the junk and rebuild.
    It's the infamous "technical problems".
Plus my stomach is telling me to break for breakfast ......
